Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons dried dill weed Look for a brand that offers a vibrant green color; the fresher the dill, the better the flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder Granulated garlic is preferred for rich aroma—look for organic brands whenever possible.
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder Sweet onion powder adds depth; can substitute with shallot powder.
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar Balances acidity and adjustable to taste.
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt Opt for flake salt for better texture; Diamond Crystal is recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon citric acid Gives an extra acidic kick; also known as lemon salt.
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder Adds complexity; use Penn's or a reputable organic brand.

Method

Preparation
  1. Measure all the spices accurately and place them into a small mixing bowl.
  2. Use a whisk to combine the ingredients until the blend is uniform in color and texture, about a minute.
  3. Scoop the seasoning blend into an airtight container or spice jar and label it with the date.
  4. Seal the container tightly and let the mix rest for at least 24 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Store the mix in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Notes

Ensure all spices are at room temperature for an even mix. Store in an airtight container for the best shelf life, preferably in a cool, dark place. The longer the mix sits, the more complex the flavors will become. Adjust salt for sodium intake if necessary.
