  • 1 cup Cheese (Optional) Provides creaminess and richness.
  • to taste Salt and Pepper Enhances all the existing flavors.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed cast-iron skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic, ginger, and green onions, sautéing until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add the ground meat and cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes. Then, stir in the chopped cabbage and soy sauce, cooking until the cabbage wilts, about 4 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a baking dish, place a layer of dumpling wrappers followed by a portion of the meat and cabbage mixture. Repeat this process until all ingredients are used, finishing off with a top layer of dumpling wrappers.
  5. Pour chicken broth over the top layer, adding cheese if desired.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  7. Let the dish cool slightly before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

Notes

Tip: Use whole grain or vegetable-based dumpling wrappers for added fiber and nutrients. You can also incorporate chopped spinach or kale into the filling for an extra dose of vitamins. For a plant-based option, replace ground meat with lentils or mushrooms.
