Preparation
  1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the apple cider, maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Warm until steaming but not boiling, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the bourbon, allowing the aroma to infuse.
  3. Carefully divide the cider mixture evenly between two heatproof mugs.
  4. Add a slice of apple to each mug and drop in a cinnamon stick if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. For a richer flavor, consider adding spices like nutmeg or cloves.
