  • 2 cups milk Use whole milk for a creamier taste or opt for any plant-based milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 1/4 cup Hale’s Blue Boy sala flavored syrup This syrup gives the drink its iconic flavor. Available online or at Asian grocery stores.
  • 3 cups crushed ice Use crushed ice for a refreshing slush-like texture.
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk Optional topping for creaminess; sweetened condensed milk can also be used.

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and a large jug.
  2. Pour the 2 cups of milk into your jug.
  3. Add 1/4 cup of Hale’s Blue Boy sala flavored syrup.
  4. Stir the milk and syrup thoroughly until you achieve a uniform pink color.
  5. Fill your desired drinking glasses with about 3 cups of crushed ice.
  6. Pour the pink milk mixture over the ice-filled glasses.
  7. Drizzle 1/4 cup of evaporated milk on top of each glass before serving, if desired.

Notes

Store any leftover drink in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but for best taste, consume immediately after preparing. For a vegan version, use plant-based milk.
