  • 1 egg Egg (for egg wash) Brush the turnovers for a shiny finish.
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (for egg wash) Mixed with the egg for the wash.
  • to taste Cinnamon sugar (optional, for topping) Can be sprinkled on top before baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped plums, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Gently mix and set aside.
  3. Roll out the pie crusts to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into squares of approximately 4 inches.
  4. Spoon the plum mixture onto one side of each square, being careful not to overfill.
  5. Fold the other side over to create a triangle shape and press edges to seal. Optionally, use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  6. Whisk egg and milk together for the egg wash; brush it over each turnover and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and fragrant.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving to enhance the flavors and texture.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, dusted with powdered sugar and paired with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be made gluten-free with appropriate pie crust.
