Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Press about two-thirds of the cookie dough into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the base.
- In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cookie base evenly.
- Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with candy-coated chocolate eggs and optional colorful sprinkles.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
Serve these bars with a cup of coffee or milk. They're great for family gatherings and Easter celebrations.
