Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Spread this mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and stir gently until just combined.
  6. Spread the batter evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
